Carpal Tunnel Syndrome Treatment with our Chiropractors at Seaforth

The fibrous tissue which surrounds the wrist is known as the carpal region. This is the tight spaces between this fibrous band and the wrist bone. The median nerve passes through the carpal tunnel to receive sensations from the thumb, index, and middle fingers of the hand. The swelling around or a change in position of the tissue within the carpal tunnel can squeeze and irritate the median nerve which causes Carpal Tunnel Syndrome.

This is a painful progressive condition that occurs when the median nerve, which runs from the forearm to the hand, becomes compressed or squeezed at the wrist. sometimes this problem originates in the vertebra of the neck, if this is the case then we may be able to help you at Complete Chiropractic.

Carpal tunnel syndrome only affects a very low percent of the population. This condition is most common in middle-aged women. Many people with carpal tunnel syndrome have no identifiable cause. It can be aggravated during pregnancy.

Most common symptoms include the following:

  • Pain
  • Weak hand grip
  • Numbness
  • Pins-and-needles sensation from the wrist to the thumb, index, middle, or ring finger which appear gradually and worsen over time.
  • Near constant pain that often awakens the individual from sleep.

We would aim to decrease the local swelling and inflammation in the carpal tunnel itself, while relaxing the muscles of the forearm. Treatment will work to uncover and treat any underlying conditions that contribute to the development of Carpel Tunnel Syndrome.
