Staying At Your Peak Over The Holiday Period
March 25, 2025

As the year is coming to a close – there’s every chance to celebrate. Work Christmas parties, family get-togethers, Fridays, new years and more. These times of celebrating can sometimes be a little taxing both on the pocket and the body. Follow these tips from our Australian Chiropractors to help you stay on top of your physical and emotional health, and keep you happy through the year end.
Eat, Drink and Be Merry in Moderation!
When it comes to the holiday season, it’s common to see a tightening of the waistband and an increase on the scales. When it comes to eating and consuming healthily, know which foods have nutritional value and which are empty calories. Don’t deprive yourself of holidays treats and specialties but take everything in moderation. Small rewards now and then rather than saving yourself for one huge gorging buffet is better for your body. Healthy meals at home between festivities can help your body recover and remember beverages (especially alcoholic ones) can have high calorific counts too.
Get by with a Little Help from your Friends
During the holiday period – it’s a great time for families to get together and celebrate. If you’re aware of friends or colleagues who may not have those same support networks and you have the option to do so – include them too. Mental health is important during the holiday period, taking an active role to support those in need or may be alone is sometimes the best gift of all.
Go to your Happy Place
Holidays can be a great opportunity to relax, but with multiple events, family gatherings, continued work and more often our patients tell us they need a holiday from their holiday. Committing to fewer get-togethers or setting multiple arrangements around the same event or location can help ease stress on both your mind and also wallet.
Remember to Move it, Move it!
When work eases off or holidays start – it is easy to fall out of rhythm with our daily routine. Remember that exercise during the holiday period is just as important as at any other time of the year. If you’re usually active three to four times a week, try and maintain that throughout the holiday period. If you have family around, motivate them to join you for an after-dinner walk – having an exercise partner keeps you accountable for staying healthy.
Treat Yo’self!
When it comes to the holidays its often easy to put everyone else first and forget yourself – so remember to take care of yourself too. Find some time to rest, catch up on a good book, have a sleep in or start that project you’ve been putting off. Have you been meaning to take charge of your health but been putting it off, our wonderful team will be working through the holiday period and our chiropractors are here to help. It’s time to think of you – so give us a call and we can help you to help yourself.
